POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: ESE Director
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Christian Academy
REPORTS TO: Principal
STATUS: Part -Time
Purpose Statement:
The ESE Director works with the ESE teachers, ESE parents, and Student Support Teachers and Student Support parents to meet the unique needs of the students.
Scope:
The ESE Director is in constant communication with teachers, parents, and administrators to support the students with learning difficulties. The ESE Director will oversee the child study process.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provide direction, motivation and vision to the ESE staff to accomplish their professional duties and personal commitment/devotion to Jesus Christ. Meet with ESE team to pray for and plan for the students’ needs.
  • Work with teachers to develop appropriate strategies and interventions for students that are having difficulty.
  • Assist teachers in completing Child Study forms when necessary. Schedule Child Study meetings with all appropriate personnel.
  • Document recommendations made by the Child Study Team.
  • Monitor the Child Study Team’s recommendation for implementation and success.
  • Administer informal assessments to students to determine placement or services when needed.
  • Train ESE / Student Support teachers to give diagnostic assessments to students to determine placement or services needed.
  • Review testing and report results to parents and teachers.
  • Assist parents in seeking psychological testing when needed.
  • Assist teachers in completing requested paper for psychological testing. Read and interpret psychologist reports for child study team and parents.
  • Meet with teachers and parents to determine students’ eligibility for ESE / Student Support.
  • Maintain records on each ESE / Student Support student.
  • Work with ESE / Student Support teachers to select appropriate curriculum.
  • Inform teachers and staff of available workshops and resources
  • Assist teachers in providing accommodations in the curriculum and environment when needed.
  • Brainstorm with teachers appropriate interventions and accommodations to meet the needs of the students in the general education classroom.
  • Schedule interim meeting when needed to discuss student concerns. Monitor program delivery to ensure students’ needs are being met.
  • Provide encouragement and prayer to parents and teachers as they try to meet the needs of the students.
  • Be available to school staff and parents to answer questions about Exceptional Student Education and learning disabilities.
  • Assist private therapist and tutors from outside our community in scheduling and meeting the needs of our students.
  • Work with Broward County Schools ESE department in providing services for our ESE students.
  • Assist in choosing appropriate placement for all ESE / Student Support students.
  • Plan and develop accommodation procedures for Standardized Testing and Semester Exams.
  • Provide proctoring for ESE students during Standardized Testing.
  • Train all ESE / Student Support test administrators and proctors in making appropriate testing accommodations.
  • Assist with interviewing potential ESE staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Participates in the professional development and accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance job skills.
  • Attend staff devotions one day per week (fulfill devotion duty during morning arrivals.)
  • Attend Calvary Christian Academy staff meetings.
  • Attend Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale monthly staff meetings.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs

  • Florida State Certification in ESE and/or Florida Professional Certification, ACSI certification or CSI certification

  • Completion of level two servant requirements, working towards level four
  • Organizational skills
