The Child Watch Aide provides childcare to infants and preschool children in the Child Watch Program who reside in a domestic violence shelter.

Responsibilities:

• Provides a safe and secure environment for children. Performs safety checks.
• Implements check-in/out procedures and follows all policies. Performs required administrative tasks.
• Attends to all of the children’s needs.
• Sets up toys and equipment to be used and ensures proper storage when done.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, parents and staff. Communicates effectively.
• Assists with follow-ups and progress of children as needed.
• Anticipates problems and finds appropriate solutions.
• Enforces PPE compliance as required.
• Sanitizes all areas of play and all toys per Covid-19 protocols.
• Communicates concerns to management for improvement or intervention.
• Attends and participates in required training sessions and staff meetings.
• Works collaboratively within a team-centered environment and provides additional support as directed by supervisor (such as acting as a substitute teacher).
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• Two years of college education in Child Development preferred.
• Bi-lingual, English-Spanish required.
• One to three years related experience.
• Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
• Display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and needs.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Use independent judgment and initiative.
• Handle public contact effectively.
• Maintain accurate and orderly records as requested.
• Analyze and resolve problems.
• Kid-friendly personality.
• Strong work ethic, self-directed, and able to coordinate multiple tasks.
• Thrives in a flexible, evolving environment; adapts to changes effectively.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team; provide support to other departments.
• Able to effectively and efficiently address crises and problem-solve with open communication.
• Must complete 40-hour Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault certification training.
• Infant and Child First Aid and CPR Certification required. If candidate does not have certification, they must complete the training.
