Los Angeles Unified School District is Hiring a CTE (Career and Technical Education) Teacher Near Los Angeles, CA

We currently have multiple CTE teaching positions open in the district. All CTE positions are considered full-time (10-month contract) with 30 hours of teaching per week unless otherwise noted.

Los Angeles Unified Regions (North, West, East, and South)

Immediately seeking CTE Teachers for the following Industries/Pathways:

  • Building & Construction Trades and Energy, Environment & Utilities (Cabinetry & Woodworking, Residential & Commercial Construction, Green Urban Design and Photovoltaic)
  • Fashion and Interior Design (Fashion Design, Merchandising, Interior Design, and Cosmetology)
  • Health Science and Medical Technology (Biotechnology, Clinical Medical Science, Biomedical, Mental & Behavioral Health, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Health & Fitness, Nursing, Patient Care, Public Health, and Health Administration)
  • Public Services (Criminal Justice, Juvenile Justice, Legal Practices, Forensic Science, Law Enforcement, First Responder, and Fire Science)

Length of Work Year: C-Basis (10-month contract)

Employment Type: full-time, 10 months contract position (30 hours per week)

Salary: Starting $52.43 - $69.23 (hourly)

Job Description/Essential Elements:
Under the supervision of Career Technical Education and High School Administration, the CTE Instructor provides rigorous and relevant instruction aligned to industry and state standards in order for all students to graduate with 21st Century college and career-ready skills.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement innovative and differentiated instruction using a project-based learning model that includes key assignments and the overarching “Big Idea” culmination project aligned to the CTE Model Curriculum Standards and Common Core State Standards
  • Collaborate with academic peers in a professional learning community to create and integrate cross-curricular activities to strengthen and deepen student’s knowledge of curricular content
  • Identify and maintain professional business and industry networks to develop an employer advisory to guide curriculum development and promote work-based learning aligned to pathway content
  • Cultivate and nurture safe environments that promote social emotional learning and respect among diversity of all learners
  • Analyze data using multiple assessments to guide instructional practice based on individualized unique needs of each student
  • Engage with parent and community partners to increase active involvement in student learning
  • Monitor and maintain school reports including, but not limited to, attendance, assessments and grades
  • Participate in professional development trainings and activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Credential OR Single Subject Credential in the areas allowed to teach within a respective CTE area OR eligibility to obtain a CTE Credential based on three (3) years of verifiable work experience in the subject area; in lieu of three (3) years, one year of verifiable work experience WITH the completion of a minimum of 48-semester units of post-secondary education in the related subject area.   • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Possession of a high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Passage of CBEST and/or District Proficiency required
