CITY OF HOBBS is Hiring a SENIOR CENTER CUSTODIAN Near Hobbs, NM

Performs custodial duties for the Older Americans building.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all restrooms, office areas, and lunchroom on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that all restroom supplies are replenished.
  • Cleans windows and walls, sweeps, mops, vacuums, shampoos and steam clean carpets; strips, waxes, polishes and buffs floors.
  • Dusts furniture and wipes base boards.
  • Dumps and relines all trash and garbage cans on a daily basis.
  • Picks up litter in and around the building and grounds area. 
  • Maintains custodial equipment.
  • Opens and closes, locks and unlocks building facilities as needed. 
  • Moves and sets up furniture and equipment as needed and assigned.
  • Sweeps or blows any debris in entrance doorways. Removes ice, snow, or any other hazards from walkways. 
  • Picks up meals for daily luncheon and Meals on Wheels program.
  • Delivers meals for Meals on Wheels as needed and occasionally sits with clients to provide any assistance as requested. 
  • Provides transportation to and from our daily luncheon. 
  • Provides assistance to congregate meal participants by bringing meals to those that are unable to carry their food trays due to physical restrictions if needed. 
  • Occasionally drives senior citizens to their homes, stores, doctor’s appointments, etc. as requested and assigned.
  • Acts as a backup to the Older Americans Maintenance Supervisor in their absence.
  • May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, prefer one year experience in custodial work or related field.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Working knowledge of janitorial equipment, materials and supplies used in buildings.

Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. 

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Older Americans staff, Parks, Recreation, & Community Affairs personnel and general public.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid state issued driver’s license.

Ability to obtain Building and Maintenance Care training.
