About the Job

The School of Public Health's Cannabis Research Center is seeking applications for a full-time Project Coordinator (8352P2-Research Professional 2).

Starting Salary Range: $55,000-65,000, dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Work Arrangements: The University of Minnesota endorses "Work. With Flexibility." and we offer a flexible work environment that meets the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and partners we serve. This position will have a hybrid work option with a preferred 3 days onsite during core business hours. The successful candidate will be provided University-configured equipment and supportive technology tools, however, they are expected to have access to a reliable internet connection for duties undertaken remotely. Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview.
Position Overview
In 2023, the State of Minnesota granted an appropriation for a Cannabis Research Center (CRC) at the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health (SPH). This new research center presents a significant opportunity to advance understanding of the role cannabis legalization will play in the health, safety and well-being of Minnesotans. Please go to this link for more information: https://www.sph.umn.edu/research/centers/cannabis/about/The Project Coordinator will support the many research projects of the Cannabis Research Center (see CRC Current Projects). They will coordinate project activities to ensure projects are following their timelines, and they will provide administrative and logistical support including scheduling, tracking, and documentation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Project Management and Coordination (85%)
* Working closely with CRC Leadership and team members to complete a wide range of project management and coordination tasks, including recruiting participants, developing instruments and protocols, project logistics, planning and coordinating incentives, and overseeing data collection
* Supervising field data collection staff
* Coordinating and participating in data collecting in a variety of locations (e.g., administer surveys at state/county fairs, collect observational data at retail locations)
* Preparing, monitoring, and updating project plans to ensure adherence to project goals
* Coordinating project meetings
* Creating, following, and monitoring work plans and timelines for CRC projects and assisting with budget tracking project-related expenditures.
* Identifying, assessing, and resolving issues on projects, and escalating complex issues appropriately to CRC Leadership
* Collaborating with CRC Leadership to seek creative and timely solutions, evaluate current procedures, and recommend changes to improve the efficiency of project tasks
* Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports. Ensuring all needed documentation is current and properly filed and stored.
* Adhering to University and School of Public Health policies and procedures
Communication and Dissemination (15%)
* Acting as the point of contact and communicating project status to the CRC team. Communicating timeline changes and new information to project teams.
* Participating in development of papers, briefs, and other dissemination tools to communicate study methods and results to diverse audiences (e.g, researchers, practitioners, policy makers, advocates, community members).

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS plus at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years
* Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate projects
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
* Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
* Demonstrated ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence
* Demonstrated ability to understand and follow instructions
* Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
* Willingness to collect data in a variety of locations (e.g., administer surveys at state/county fairs, collect observational data at retail locations)
* Demonstrated commitment to antiracism and social equity (see the University of Minnesota School of Public Health's Strategic Plan for Antiracism)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in public health or related field
* Project management experience
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with diverse communities
* Interest in policy and or/substance use research
* Demonstrated ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
* Demonstrated ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
* Proficiency in computer software (e.g., Google Drive).
