SALARY: Based on Bulloch County Schools salary/supplement schedule

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of School Nutrition plays a pivotal role in overseeing both the school nutrition program and the auxiliary warehouse operations. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of food service management and warehouse logistics. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the school nutrition program while effectively managing inventory, procurement, and distribution processes within the auxiliary warehouse.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food service management, public health, or a related field.
  • Holds a School Nutrition Director Certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC) or willing to obtain within 5 years of employment.
  • ServSafe Certification, required within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Driver's License & Evidence of Insurability.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutritional guidelines.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite applications.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Warehouse management experience.
  • Registered and Licensed Dietitian.
  • School Nutrition Specialist certification.
  • Experience in large-scale food service management with an emphasis on a sustainable model that includes: menu planning, food procurement, staff training and supervision and serving meals in a commercial or institutional environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs Auxiliary Warehouse operations to provide services within established time frames and ensure district compliance with federal, state, local, and district laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintenance of equipment repair services, equipment inventory, and the implementation of new programs and/or processes within the warehouse, etc.
  • Assists in budget planning for the school nutrition program and auxiliary warehouse operations.
  • Monitors expenses and identifies opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Participates in and contributes to a wide variety of programs related to School Nutrition (e.g. staff training, bidding and procurement, school nutrition software applications, nutrition education, etc.) to ensure district compliance with established guidelines and USDA compliance of the program.
  • Contributes to review, revision, and implementation of local wellness policy and wellness committee.
  • Contributes to the development of public information materials and media releases on the School Nutrition program and meets with students, teachers, employees, vendors, community groups, and professional and industry advisory boards to market the School Nutrition program.
  • Participates in grant writing and actively seeks out additional funding and revenue opportunities
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars at local, state, regional, and national levels to convey and/or gather information required to facilitate the growth of a progressive School Nutrition program.
  • Supervises the warehouse assistant staff.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
