This position is for the 2024-2025 school year.
Brooks Elementary is looking for an special education instructional health assistant for the2024-2025 school year. In this position, you will assist students with special education services within a highly structured resource classroom and in the general education classroom. As part of a high functioning team, candidates would be responsible for collaborating with and assisting Special Education (teachers and instructional assistants). At times candidates will also be providing for the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. Candidate may assist students with toileting needs at times. In addition, candidates must committ to being part of a positive school culture where all students are cared for and provided the proper supports to ensure each student grows.
This position is 6.5 hours per day and 170 instructional days, 4 holidays, 7 planning days and 2 extended days for at total of 183 days per year. Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date. (Considered full time with benefits - see below)

• Must have 48 semester hours, an Associates Degree or have a high school diploma and have passed the paraeducator assessment exam. Must provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)
Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks. This position is considered a ten month employee on the pay schedule. 4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
