ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ensure all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
  • Develop the planning process related to pre-production activities for ship projects at PSI – together with other Project Planners, with Engineering, Project Management & other departments.
  • Prepare together with the other planners & relevant departments all needed Plans, Document lists, POS tracking, Plan Approval process, Detail Design process (incl. BOM process, fabrication & installation drawings), relevant work load estimations & S-curves, etc., for the entire Engineering Process for order-book vessels in conjunction with other PSI Primary Plans.
  • Develop reporting, follow-up & project control routines related to the Engineering process, to support PSI Management, Project Management and primary line departments.
  • Preparation of various types of reports needed for PSI Management, Engineering, Procurement, etc.
  • Active status follow-up, especially during Basic and Detail Design phases, participation in Project Meetings, Schedule follow-up meetings, representing both the Project and Planning & Engineering Department interests.
  • Develop the procurement planning for ship projects at PSI – together with other Project Planners, with Procurement, Project Management & other departments.
  • Prepare together with the other planners & relevant departments all needed Plans/schedules, documents, reports for the entire Procurement Process for order-book vessels in conjunction with other PSI Primary Plans.
  • Develop reporting, follow-up & project control routines related to the Procurement process, to support PSI Management, Project Management and primary line departments.
  • Schedule and Update the Project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) based on periodically earned value.
  • Utilize in Primavera P6 to implement progress updates and schedule future work in line with Project milestones.
  • Create the Planning support documentation needed for the periodic IMS submittal to the customer.
  • Organize and document the Production needs dates for all major long lead equipment project procurement plans.
  • Assist in the scheduling and coordination of vendor installation support for ship components.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Scheduling experience in Primavera P6 / MS Project
  • Excellent written and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and cultures
  • Decision Making/Problem Solving
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong MS Office skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Shipbuilding or other manufacturing industry preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of modern shipbuilding process and terminology
  • Familiarity with European and/or Asian shipbuilding practices is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience of project-based engineering processes
  • Knowledge and experience of productive work methods, capability to make productivity/efficiency comparisons
  • Software skills (MS Project, SAP, other planning/ERP systems, Primavera P6 and MS Office)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties performed in an office area environment within a manufacturing facility. Responsibilities will require routine fieldwork in the shipyard’s fabrication shops, dry docks, and onboard vessels as part of the above activities. These heavy industrial settings may include; noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fume, and smoke, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
