We Protect the Possible. Summary: The Sr Tax Accountant provides a high-level of tax accounting and compliance support for all aspects of income taxes. They prepare and review income tax returns, income tax provisions, workpapers, and supporting calculations prepared internally or by our external service provider. The Sr Tax Accountant assists with other tax filing obligations and tax matters. They also provide support for business processes around income taxes and operational tax support to the business as a whole. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares or reviews ASC 740 income tax provision workpapers, financial statement income tax reporting, and disclosures. Assists the Director of Tax with the annual income tax financial statement audit and quarterly reviews. Prepares or reviews corporate income tax compliance, tax workpapers, and supporting calculations. Prepares or reviews partnership income tax compliance, tax workpapers, and supporting calculations including passthrough entity, composite, and withholding returns. Assists the Director of Tax with review of partnership capital accounts including adjustments for 743, 734, and 704(c). Reviews quarterly partner income estimates and partner income tax distributions. Reviews quarterly estimated tax payments ensuring timely payment. Prepares other tax returns as necessary including gross receipts, property tax, excise tax, business taxes, and indirect taxes. Reviews the general ledger, reconciles the tax accounts, and prepares adjusting journal entries. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to organize and manage information needed for tax provision and compliance. Coordinates with external service provider to provide required information and supporting calculations then reviewing forms and workpapers prepared by provider. Assists in responding to tax authority inquiries and successfully resolving federal, state, and local income and franchise tax audits. Conducts tax research as needed to support the business’ day-to-day operations and special projects. Monitors federal and state tax legislation to assess potential impacts on income tax provision and compliance. Assists the Director of Tax with business processes related to forecasting, budgeting, and analysis of tax expense for management reporting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) related to tax accounting and internal controls for SOX compliance. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Must possess excellent organizational skills. Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Must demonstrate the organization’s core values, exuding behavior aligned with the firm’s culture. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Master’s degree in Taxation strongly preferred. 4-7 years of experience in public accounting or comparable industry experience required. Experience with tax accounting for publicly traded companies and corporate income tax required. Experience with partnerships and passthrough entities strongly preferred.
