We are seeking an experienced full-time Bridge Carpenter to assist with heavy civil construction project activities with an emphasis on bridges in the Alexandria, LA area.

The Bridge Carpenter must have the knowledge and ability to build & set simon, wood, PMD, or similar forms, perform finish carpentry work, read blueprints, perform material takeoffs from drawings, perform advanced layout including layout of anchor bolts, read tape/ruler, use level instruments, use transits, install batter boards, tie rebar, set screeds, place & finish concrete, build scaffolding, operate pneumatic and electric power tools, rig & direct heavy equipment including cranes, & adhere to industry & company safety standards & requirements involved with bridge and road building.

Requirements:
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
  • Ability to perform all physical tasks involved in setting forms & anchor bolts, tying rebar, building scaffolding, perform finish carpentry, set screeds, install batter boards, & operate manual, pneumatic, & electric power tools.
  • Read blueprints, layout, use level instruments & transits, & read tape/ruler.
  • Is trained in rigging & safety harness use.
  • Works from heights on various platform types.
  • Excavates and fills trenches and ditches.
  • Uses various types of power tools (mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, etc).
  • Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Performs materials handling and storage.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Benefits Overview:
