The Coordinator of Hospital Storytelling is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Hospital Storytelling program which sends readers into pediatric clinics and hospital settings to read to the patients and distribute free books. The Coordinator conducts outreach to hospitals and pediatric facilities in Brooklyn and develops new sites. The Coordinator acts as a liaison to sites at hospitals, clinics and group homes and conducts hospital storytelling sessions. Coordinator recruits volunteer Reading Troubadours and contracted Hospital Storytellers for various sites. This position reports to the Supervising Librarian of Inclusive Services.

• Recruiting, training, placing and supervising Reading Troubadours and Hospital Storytellers
• Troubleshooting and support for a diverse group of Hospital Storytellers and Reading Troubadours
• Initial contact and liaison for participating sites
• Ongoing outreach for the program
• Coordinating special events
• Acting budget manager including writing contracts and RCQ requester for the program
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
• Acts as a liaison between Hospital Storytelling and other the Brooklyn Public Library departments
• Processing arriving shipments and book orders
• Shipping books and supplies to readers

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
• Understanding of and comfort in medical settings
• Excellent customer relations and communication skills
• Bilingual skills highly desirable
• Ability to navigate Brooklyn
• Ability to work independently
• Familiar with internet and basic computer applications
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and tasks
• Experience working with children a plus

This is a Union position represented by District Council 37. The salary for this position is $43,452.
