TITLE: Girls Soccer Assistant Coach

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for providing support to the leadership of the Head Coach of the Soccer Program. The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, planning practices, and operating game day strategy. The Assistant Soccer Coach is required to abide by rules and regulations of; the NFHS, the MSHSL, and Breck School.

This Coach would be responsible for the C squad program, while helping out with JV and Varsity when necessary or desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.

  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Soccer.

  • Coordinate the development and promotion of the Soccer Program across the school community.

  • Ensure all coaches work together toward a common goal within the Soccer Program and provide unity across all levels and teams.

  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student’s athletic abilities initially and on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.

  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.

  • Encourage and support multisport athletes within Breck School.

  • Assist student athletes with college recruitment.

  • Act as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with news media and other organizations.

  • Participate in special activities to include parent meetings, senior night, banquets, etc.

  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic or other appropriate administrator.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of experience coaching Soccer at the high school level

  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

  • Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.

COMPETENCIES

  • Possess excellent organizational, communication, delegation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Be an effective and timely communicator, both in written and oral form.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation.

  • Displays good judgment, time management, and an ability to prioritize.

  • Represent the organization in a professional manner at all times
