Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.
But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.
Reporting to the Director, Software Engineering the Software Engineer, HMIS develops and maintains software solutions compliant with Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The Software Engineer designs, develops, and optimizes software applications to ensure seamless integration with government data standards and requirements. These applications are utilized by teams working in Outreach, Transitional Housing, and Permanent Housing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, and implement software for the organization compliance with HMIS data standards
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and integrate them into software design and architecture
Write scalable, documented, and tested code that accurately, securely, and easily furthers the organizations objectives
Build software for ongoing review of the quality of the organizations data collection efforts
Optimize and enhance existing software to maintain compliance and improve performance in alignment with evolving HMIS standards
Stay updated on HMIS guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices to proactively address compliance-related challenges
Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum of two years of experience in software development
Proficiency in SQL, C#, Javascript , Microsoft Azure Suite
Experience integrating with external APIs/Software
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts, and drive solutions aligned with HMIS compliance goals
Great attention to detail, in both coding and requirements gathering
Diverse technical background in evaluating technologies and designing effective software systems
Experience working in government data compliance, on EHR software or with sensitive PII preferred
Compensation: $85,00 0.00 - $85,000.0 0 / Per Annum
