We are seeking an experienced Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join the night shift team at Bayou Processing & Storage in east Houston. The Material Handler/Forklift Operator moves material and product as directed.Responsibilities:Performs daily inspectionReports all deficiencies, unusual noises, or difficulties in operation of the equipmentIdentifies material to be placed into production, verifying correct tag and heat numbersDetermines weight of material and utilizes forklift with the appropriate capacityProperly secures material on forklift before moving Ensures a safe workplace by maintaining awareness of co-workers in the area Advises all co-workers in the area before movement of material on overhead craneFollows all company policy procedures, watches for potential risks in the area and notifies management of deficiencies identifiedAttends all training and safety meetings as directedAssists with stock checks and physical counts Performs other tasks as directed Qualifications:2 years of related experienceFamiliar with safe work practices, and procedures Knowledge of crane capacities, accessory equipment and rigging Ability to move large sized and unusually shaped steel plate in a safe manner Ability to calculate weights of materialProfessional communication and interpersonal skillsPhysical Requirements: Must be able to traverse the distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
