Bozeman Health is Hiring a Cytotechnologist II - Coordinator (Full-Time) Near Bozeman, MT

The position is a coordinator position that will maintain all cytology data in accordance with CAP regulations.

Position Summary:

The cytotechnologist coordinator will screen gyn and non-gyn specimens, as well as fulfill administrative duties, all while working closely with our team of pathologists to offer excellent care and timely results to our patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a School of Cytotechnology accredited program by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation
  • Montana Licensure (Clinical Laboratory Scientist)
  • Cytotechnologist (ASCP) Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years’ of Cytotechnology experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Examines cell samples to detect abnormalities in the color, shape, or size of cellular components and patterns. Submits slides with abnormal cell structures to pathologists for further examination. Documents specimens by verifying patients and specimens information.
  • Prepares and analyzes samples such as papanicolaou (PAP) smear body fluids and fine needle aspirations (FNAs) to detect abnormal conditions.
  • Maintains effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety. Adjusts, maintains, or repairs laboratory equipment such as microscopes.
  • Performs karyotyping or organizing of chromosomes according to standardized ideograms.
  • Assigns tasks or coordinates task assignments to ensure adequate performance of laboratory activities.

  • Demonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment.
  • Ability to work varied shifts.
  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality.
  • Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
