Sylvan Learning Center - Coon Rapids

Sylvan Learning Center is looking for a Part-Time Tutor/Teacher to join our enthusiastic and fun team! This position will create a positive, personal learning experience for students by following Sylvan program materials. This role will create a balanced and robust learning experience for students and evaluate student progress on each assignment and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student.

Responsibilities:

• Greets students in a welcoming and friendly manner
• Initiate instructions to personally engage each student
• Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
• Manage students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional, educational session 
• Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment
• Manage the conclusion of each instructional session, completion of learning logs and transition activities
• Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
• Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed 

General qualifications:

• Able to Engage, motivate and inspire students to learn
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills

Specific category qualifications:

• Teachers:
  • Four-year degree required or equivalent to experience in college-level math
  • State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (Current or expired)
  • Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (Preferred for reading teachers)

  • Monday-Thursday Afternoons 3:00 pm-8:00 pm
