Blue Origin, LLC is Hiring a Design Quality Engineer Near The Verne Building (A), WA
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will develop and execute quality processes for the design, test, and manufacture of various spaceflight systems. You will be responsible to drive quality products throughout the organization by maintaining a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels. You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and on your own initiative; and be adaptable, as you will work on a variety of applications and systems. We are looking for an individual that can implement innovative quality initiatives as part of the design element for Blue Origin hardware. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities Lead effort to ensure manufacturing planning captures design and product conformance requirements Regularly audit the quality of design and manufacturing planning releases including drawings and documentation as well as adherence to release processes Verify engineering and manufacturing planning are producible and inspectable Develop metrics to assess design quality and defects throughout the life-cycle Analyze nonconformance data and support Corrective Action Boards to address nonconformance trends attributed to design issues Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of design quality guidance and requirements Interface with design and manufacturing teams for flight hardware and ground support equipment Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. in engineering or technical field 3 years’ relevant experience in a design or manufacturing engineering field Strong familiarity of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs Knowledge of Design Control activities and best practices Experience reviewing engineering with a high attention to detail Ability to methodically reduce complex technical jargon into concise instructions Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Desired: Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations Relevant experience in AS9145, Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process Experience creating actionable metrics meeting organizational goals Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation experience Experience in Quality performance metrics analysis American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification ITAR Requirements To conform to U.S. Government commercial space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawfully admitted for permanent residence into the U.S. (i.e. current green card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1157-1158.
