OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The Director of Billing Operations will be responsible for the scheduling, oversight and performance of the billing team at Biodesix. Objectives for the position are both KPI and Continuous Improvement based. The Director will often interact cross-functionally with Biodesix teammates and will own external vendor relationships to create and drive scalable processes that set the standard for quality, delivery and cost within the existing framework, while recommending and transitioning to vendors, systems and processes which meet or exceed existing performance. The director will keep current with latest developments in the billing legal and regulatory environment ensuring that Biodesix is compliant with all billing laws and regulations, while providing input into the governmental affairs team for regulatory improvements and periodic project deliverables related to billing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Recruit, train and retain exceptional teammates for the billing team.

* Daily management of remote and on-site billing team(s) to develop, deploy and continuously meet or exceed KPI's.

* Own revenue cycle software vendor relationship(s)/break-fix/upgrades and process improvement.

* Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for revenue recognition and complimentary systems.

* PAMA research and calculations and process support.

* Schedule and respond timely to billing project requests.

* Oversight and Continuous improvement of billing and customer assistance process.

* Data analysis of billing and related systems and processes that enable enhanced efficiencies.

* Manage and further develop patient Biodesix Access Program (BAP) including development of inbound/outbound stakeholder processes to efficiently and compassionately meet stakeholder needs in accessing Biodesix testing.

* Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) where applicable.

* Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory billing requirements.

* Own the expense budget for Billing dept including resource planning for three year window

* Respond to QMS concerns through QMS process.

* Create and document work processes for training and quality purposes

* Act as a trainer and mentor for team members to be able to realize their potential

* Able to step into day-to-day and project billing requests to offset peak loads on team.

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to build, mentor and lead a team to successful performance and continuous improvement.

* Demonstrated ability to improve processes and efficiencies without sacrificing quality.

* Superior Excel Power BI or related skills to Extract, Transform and Load data into merging systems to develop and present complex analysis from disparate raw data systems.

* Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.

* Strong communication skills- both oral and written.

* Ability to adapt to emerging situations and respond with a sense of urgency.

* Organized with attention to detail and accuracy.

* HIPPA compliance and ability to handle confidential financial and personal information appropriately.

* Communicate and coordinate with internal departments.

* Willing to jump in to get things done when needs arise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* 4-6 years operational experience in medical billing, or revenue-cycle management.

* Experience in creating workflow management/call-center systems.

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Accounting, or Health Policy preferred.

* People management experience.

* Superior Excel or similar data skills, Power BI a plus

* Experience with improving order-to-cash workflows and processes.

* Experience with Quadax billing software a plus
