Better Business Bureau is looking for a Legal Administrator to join the team. The Legal Administrator is pivotal in delivering extensive legal support, encompassing crucial aspects such as board governance, contract development, review, and execution. The Legal Administrator will also collaborate with legal consultants, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Serving as the custodian of record, the incumbent will uphold meticulous document management practices. Additionally, the Legal Administrator will possess a profound understanding of legal research and analysis, coupled with exceptional communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including IABBB legal, law enforcement, government agencies, and both internal and external stakeholders/individuals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities C onduct legal research and analysis on various topics, including board governance, contract law, deceptive business practices, and regulatory compliance.Assist in the development, review, and execution of contracts, agreements, and legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Work closely with legal consultants to provide support on legal matters and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.Serve as the custodian of record for legal documents, maintaining accurate and organized records in accordance with legal requirements and coordinating and working with BBB CEO, CSO, and legal counsel for guidance on legal matters or threats of legal action when appropriate.Lead the coordination of compiling responses and recommending action steps that support investigations (like gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and preparing legal documentation) and collaborating with IABBB legal and internal legal services.Lead the coordination of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes, including facilitating negotiations, drafting settlement agreements, and training incoming arbitrators.Collaborate with law enforcement and government agencies to support investigations into deceptive business practices and other legal matters.Assist in preparing for appeal hearings, including gathering evidence, preparing legal briefs, and representing the organization as needed.Additional Duties Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Communication and interpersonal skills of the highest level with the ability to empower and motivate staff and justify actions taken.Knowledge of office administrative procedures and technology.Ability to ask and answer meaningful and impactful questions.Ability to work independently and change directions as needed.Performs additional tasks as requested by BBB senior leadership team.Provides support for other duties as assigned.Strong knowledge of board governance principles, contract law, and regulatory compliance.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.Proficiency in legal research tools and software.Experience working with law enforcement and government agencies is a plus.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionEducation and Experience: 4-year college degree or equivalent experience in law, legal studies, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience working in a legal environment, focusing on contract development, review, and execution.Experience working with legal consultants and external legal partners.Perks No nights or weekends!Flexible 40-hour schedule.Medical and additional benefits are available.Group rates for health, dental, and vision coverage for dependents.Tax-free flex spending account.401(k) retirement plan with a 5% match and immediate vesting.Free Employee Assistance ProgramsEleven (11) paid holidaysand birthdays off!#J-18808-Ljbffr
