Job Description:

One year of Security, Military or fast-paced customer service work experience is preferred, and as well as enrollment in a Criminal Justice education program.
Our shifts include Full-Time, Part-Time, Per Diem, days, nights and evenings. This position will have rotating days off and weekends, scheduling will be based on department needs.
As part of the security team, you will:
•Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle
•Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress/egress and unauthorized persons
•Prepare logs and reports
•Respond to all codes and alarms
•Complete extensive de-escalation, defensive tactics, nasal Naloxone and bleeding control training
•Coordinate with local police, fire and emergency personnel
•Respond to medical emergency calls including slips and falls in the facility or on the grounds
•Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and colleagues with vehicle problems
•Perform monthly preventative maintenance and required equipment checks
•Elevator phones

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current valid driver's license required. Completed upon hire: CPI NCI Certification.
AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I, II, III Certification, BLS Provider Certification (CPR & AED), AHA Heart-Saver
First Aid Certification, Stop the Bleed and Nasal Naloxone Certification, and successful completion of
Safe Environment for Suicidal/Homicidal Patients and Restraints/Seclusion Safety training.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Observant, paying close attention to detail; Ability to remain calm in difficult situations; Adaptable to sometimes rapidly changing situations; Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across diverse cultures and at various social and educational levels. Basic computer and data entry skills. In the absence of a particular skill, a colleague must have the ability to be trained to a level of proficiency.
Experience: 1 - 2 years of healthcare security experience preferred. Military, law enforcement, and customer service work experience are also preferred. Bachelor's degree level of education or current student enrolled in a criminal justice program also encouraged.
Position Purpose/Activities
Supervisor (supplemented by Charge Officer) -To receive schedules, daily duties, priorities, adaptations, and instructions as needed to assure safety of people and facilities.
Manager, Security Operations -Supplements shift supervision, manages planning, budgets, overall department day-to-day decision making and leadership.
Security Specialists - Follows instructions related to systems, training, investigations, etc. and communications issues and concerns as applicable.
Nursing Supervisors and Department Leaders - Respond to calls for assistance. Collaborates on safety planning.

Lifting - Occasionally - 16 - 30 lbs. Payroll boxes, wooden horses, signs, wheelchairs etc.

May have to assist with lifting large or handicapped patients onto exam tables. Also lifting of deceased patients onto trays for transport
Driving - Frequently - May be assigned to drive the shuttle buses or vans
Fine finger movement - Occasionally - Writing skills, typing skills, restraining patients with wrist restraints, and straps, unlocking and locking doors, roping off lots

Telephone use - Occasionally - Answering department phones when assigned to desk duty
Object Handling - Occasionally - Handling of fire extinguishers, stretchers, wheelchairs, sharps disposal, patient valuables, wooden horses, cones, signs, ropes etc.

Sing on Bonus! Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is now offering up to a $1,000 in signing bonuses for our Security Officer positions. Important Details: •Signing Bonuses are paid out in three payments. You will receive your first payment (one third of the total amount) upon completion of the first 30 days of employment. You will receive the second payment upon completion of six (6) months and the third payment (final of the total amount) owe upon completion of one year following your start date. The bonus payments will be paid on the next regular pay day following the date on which you become eligible for the bonus. All payments are subject to applicable taxes. To be eligible:
•Signing Bonus is determined on a full-time status of 40 hours. Hours less than 40 hours will be prorated. Per Diem roles are not eligible. •Current and former BILH candidates - restrictions apply. Employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12-months. •If you leave Lahey Hospital & Medical Center before your first anniversary you will pay back the signing bonus. •Please note, signing bonuses are subject to change based on the organizations hiring needs and will be determined by Talent Acquisition on an ongoing basis.
