Buro Happold is Hiring an Internal Communications Manager & Content Writer Near Boston, MA

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Internal Communications Manager & Content Writer to join our marketing team in the United States. The purpose of the role is to develop and execute a unified United States internal communications strategy to engage and inform employees across all levels of the organization that aligns with Buro Happold’s overall communication objectives. Additionally, as the content writer for the US, this role will be responsible for crafting copy for key news features and thought leadership on our website.

Key duties

Internal Comms Duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies for the United States that align with Buro Happold’s organizational goals and objectives.
  • Work with our Global Head of Internal Communications and be part of a global internal communications community to ensure our regional messaging aligns and amplifies our global messaging strategy.
  • Partner with US Marketing, senior leaders, HR, Operations and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize internal communication needs and opportunities.
  • Create engaging content for various internal communication channels, including email newsletters, intranet, digital signage, and other platforms.
  • Manage the US communications calendar and coordinate the timely delivery of internal communications materials.
  • Work closely with the US Head of Marketing to develop messaging that supports the company's vision, mission, and values, and ensure it is consistent across all internal communication channels and relevant to each office in the US.
  • Redevelop our internal intranet on SharePoint to be a communication hub with all the details our US teams need – from leadership updates to comms around the workplace.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives, using feedback and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to leadership teams on effective communication practices and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to ensure timely and transparent communication during emergencies or sensitive situations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in internal communications.

Content Writing Duties:

  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing, US, to write clear and engaging content tailored for various platforms including feature articles for the website, internal newsletters, Q&A documents, video scripts, special projects and other materials all in the brand voice for both internal and external audiences.
  • Write content that resonates with the target audience, addresses their pain points, interests, and preferences, and encourages interaction, sharing, and engagement.
  • Bring confidence in writing content from a blank page: researching, interviewing and understanding technical subjects, and working with engineers and subject matter experts. The ability to translate complex, technical engineering subjects and transform them into easily readable and understood content.
  • Triage written content from colleagues, reviewing and revising for clarity, grammar, punctuation, style, and tone. Ensure adherence to brand guidelines, voice, and messaging consistency.
  • Participate in team brainstorms, concepting sessions, and creative reviews.
  • Work closely with other team members such as graphic designers, marketers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure content aligns with overall marketing objectives and brand messaging.
  • Bring creativity and innovation to content creation, exploring different formats, storytelling techniques, and angles to captivate and engage the audience effectively.

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree or post-graduate qualification in communications, marketing, or related field, desirable but not essential.
  • 5-7 of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience at a senior level in internal communications, preferably in a global organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders/cross-functional teams and build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute internal communication strategies that align with company goals.
  • Knowledge of best practices in employee engagement, change management, and organizational culture.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

What we offer:

  • Salary range of $82,000 – $110,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
