This role will be based in one of our three offices:

  • Luverne, MN

We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.

Responsibilities:

Join Our Dynamic Team as a Casualty Claims Unit Manager!

Are you a seasoned leader with a passion for excellence in claims management? We're seeking a talented and motivated individual to lead one of our Commercial Casualty Claims Units, ensuring top-notch service and adherence to industry standards. This position will report to the Claims Director and youll manage a small team of high-performing Casualty Adjusters responsible for mid-level loss/mid-level severity up to large loss/high severity exposures including bodily injuries. Well trust you to collaborate on litigation strategy, resolution, and staying abreast of jurisdictional law changes with the team. Youll have the opportunity to shape and deliver training programs to both your team as well as to the overall casualty claims function. Well count on you for:

  • Leadership Excellence: Efficiently and effectively manage our claims unit staff to provide prompt and equitable claim services in line with company and governmental policies, standards, and requirements. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving our business plan objectives related to profitability and expense management.
  • Training and Mentoring: Be a mentor and coach! Train, mentor, and supervise claims unit staff, ensuring customer service excellence, file quality, and staff productivity. Embrace Claims Best Practices, Guidelines, and Standards, providing timely and specific feedback to enhance the team's performance.
  • Quality Assurance : Monitor claims files to evaluate the quality of investigation, coverage analysis, liability/compensability identification, damages assessment, documentation, reporting, accurate reserving, and goal-oriented action planning. Conduct regular Quality Audits and implement coaching/training action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including Underwriting, Risk Services, Finance, and Actuary, to provide claim-specific reports and contribute to the success of the company. Your insights will be pivotal in shaping the future of our claims environment.
  • Performance Management: Establish individual staff performance and development goals, measure results, and provide guidance, support, and career development plans. Drive unit training and department-wide training initiatives to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay abreast of trends and changes in the legal environment and State/jurisdictions. Participate in Claims-related projects and provide valuable input to Claims leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative team environment, ensuring everyone's contributions are recognized and rewarded. Be a catalyst for positive change, identifying and implementing opportunities for growth and improvement.
Qualifications:

What you need to have:

  • Five to seven years commercial casualty claims experience including litigated claims and complex coverage
  • 3 years of experience coaching and developing talented professionals
  • Ability to travel occasionally and valid drivers license for travel
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Continuous learning mindset- completion of or working toward AIC, AIM, CPCU, SCLA or similar designation
