Under the supervision and/or direction of a Registered Nurse, performs various duties assisting nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established nursing standards. These duties may include assisting nurses, unit secretary/monitor technician, phlebotomy, or EKG.

• Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, assessing vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, consciousness, and overall condition.
• Assist in preparation of patient rooms and bay for receiving surgical patients
• Assist nurses and physicians in performing post-operative procedures such as wound care, catheterization, and IV administration.
• Ensure patients are comfortable and assist with pain management by providing blankets, adjusting positions, and administering prescribed medications as directed by medical staff.
• Accurately document patient information, including vital signs, intake/output, and any interventions or observations made during the recovery process.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members to report changes in patient condition and ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to strict protocols for infection control, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintenance of a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Provide basic education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care, including activity restrictions, medication management, and signs of potential complications.
• Assist in transporting patients to and from the PACU, ensuring their safety and comfort during the transfer process.
• Respond promptly to any medical emergencies or changes in patient condition, following established protocols and seeking assistance as needed.
