Payroll Specialist
The Impact this role will have
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the processing and timely delivery of assigned payrolls. The Payroll Specialist uses an understanding of Betacom’s payroll system to accurately pay employees in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rules and regulations. The Payroll Specialist helps to assure proper tax treatment, accounting, and disposition of withholdings such as taxes, deductions for benefits, retirement contributions, other savings, etc. The Payroll Specialist exercises independent judgment and confidentiality in planning and carrying out the details of work procedures and methods. Payroll Specialists are a liaison between the human resources department and the accounting department since both have a stake in payroll operations. What your day will be like
Accurately coordinate and process of weekly payroll.
Verify correct data entry while reviewing payroll changes approved by managers.
Processing employee expense reimbursement and ensuring timely payments are included on employees’ weekly deposits.
Reconciling and paying per diem payments based on company policy.
Setting up ACH payments for payroll
Ensuring timesheet hours are accurate and approved by supervisors.
Ensuring all pay is paid accurately and according to state payroll laws (example: termination, severance, etc.).
Process other financial compensations or deductions, (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker’s compensation, wage garnishments and other deductions).
Processing 401K contributions and timely payments to 401K administrator.
Being point of contact for employees for any pay related questions and communicating any issues or changes to employee’s pay.
Ensuring that local, state, and federal tax withholdings are accurate.
Providing weekly reports after payroll has completed for per diem and labor allocation.
Prepare year end benefit plan reporting and prepare 401K audits.
Ensuring benefits are accurately reflected in payroll deductions.
Review journal entries and benefit invoices for proper general ledger coding.
The specialized skills, experience, and education you will share with Betacom
Experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role in payroll.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge in MS Office Excel (functions, data, etc.)
Good knowledge of legislation relevant to accounting and payroll to include Sarbanes -Oxley Act or FLSA, state and local payroll tax laws).
Knowledge of payroll practices and basic accounting principles.
Strong communication skills and excellent attention to details.
