Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary
Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the PCT/Unit Secretary provides direct and indirect patient care. This role provides excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. In addition, unit secretaries play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within hospital units by providing administrative support and ensuring effective communication between staff and patients.
  • Responsible for assisting nursing with cardiac monitoring of patients with cardiac monitoring orders.
  • Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment.
  • Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to:
    • Assists patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
    • Assists patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity. o Records patient intake and output (I & O).
    • Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
    • Assists patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient's nurse.
  • Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitor
  • Responds to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.
Requirements:
  • Prefer 1-year Cardiac Monitor Experience
  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (must be obtained within three months of hire)
