Responsibilities and Expectations:

IPS is seeking an experienced quality leader with a strong background in operational excellence and quality within a manufacturing/services atmosphere. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, execution, and adherence to IPS quality programs. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, industrial operations, leadership, and management skills to deliver an industry lead quality organization and program.

This role will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of Integrated Power Services in addition to delivering cost-out across all P&L’s. He or she will collaborate closely with the service center management, regional leaders, engineering, and other functional teams managing overall risk and impact to IPS success.

  • Deliver the vision and maintenance of the Quality Management System Program for IPS.
  • Develop and implement a quality organization structure leading quality organization on day-to-day basis, integrating quality into daily services process driving accountability across.
  • Communicates customer, regulatory, and organizational requirements to assure product quality, supplier compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the QMS to assure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company standards set by corporate policies.
  • Champion and own all performance KPIs as it relates to delivery (in process hold points – preventative, warranty repair, rework).
  • Ensure accountability and consistent compliance with company policies.
  • Create and maintain effective quality training resources ensuring compliance with all quality certification requirements.
  • Ensure the function operates in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Lead change and eliminate waste through process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop strategic plan and manage companywide internal & supplier quality audits.
  • Support Nuclear program quality requirements.
  • Implement process change that moves quality responsibility and accountability to the lowest organizational level.
  • Develop root cause and continuous improvement strategy and training implementing in all IPS shops.
  • Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation.
  • Own and manage operational excellence defining an improvement plan for each shop scaling based on need and investment.
  • Understand and implement quality processes required by commercial and governmental customers.
  • Maintain and keep up to date with the latest ISO 9000 procedures.
  • Generate and address supplier non-conformances across IPS organization.
  • Review new technical/quality instructions or procedures for compliance within the quality system.
  • Determine and evoke quality hold points.
  • Authorize & initiate all warranty work orders when appropriate.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Unmatched Customer Service

  • Actively participate in the IPS UCE tier meeting process.
  • Provide quality and operational excellence support to IPS teams and service centers.
  • Ensure that IPS solutions meet/exceed customer expectations and applicable industry standards.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement actions based on standard work planning and warranty claims.
  • Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and Processes.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements in all engineering and shop activities.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Industrial Engineering degree preferred or closely related degree. MBA is a plus.
  • 5-10 years experience in an operations role in a traditional manufacturing plant is required.
  • 5-10 years’ leadership experience in a quality role.
  • Computer proficiency in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
