Salary Range: $39,000.00 - $45,000.00 Salary

Job Description

The Development Communications Coordinator is responsible for all details of member and general donor correspondences for the Milwaukee Public Museum and assists with some Marketing department communications to the general public. The Development Communications Coordinator serves as the main liaison between the Development and Marketing departments, meeting regularly with the Marketing Team. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Membership and Donor Responsibilities 

  • Maintains annual communications calendar to include all copy, design, and print due dates for donor and member communications. 

  • Writes all copies for membership and donor print and email communications, including newsletters, solicitations, invitations, acknowledgement letters, pledge reminders, some PowerPoint presentations and other informational pieces. 

  • Coordinates all details of the design, production, and mailing for all membership and donor print and online materials- including email communications via MailChimp and/or Microsoft Office, and campaign materials written by other staff.

  • Maintain consistent communication between all involved parties- including Development, Marketing, printing companies, and mail house, to ensure the established budget is maintained and any materials or communications are delivered in a timely manner. 

  • Proofreads all membership and donor communications-including campaign and fundraising events materials-to ensure the highest degree of accuracy. Takes direction from Marketing department to ensure all brand standards are met. 

Marketing Department Responsibilities 

  • Completes basic text content updates on the MPM website as directed by the Marketing department. 

  • Assists with the collection of content for the MPM employee monthly newsletter with departments across the organization, including the writing and preparation of routine sections of the newsletter as directed by the Marketing department. 

You will be successful in this position if you:

  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and possess strong grammar and writing skills. 

  • Practice exceptional project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and effectively relay information and timelines between multiple team members and departments. 

  • Possess experience working in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 

  • Are self-sufficient and take initiative to work on projects without supervision.

  • Are creative and can successfully make program outcomes and statistics eye-catching and appealing to all audiences.

Necessary Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3 years related experience (preferably in a nonprofit and/or fundraising environment), or equivalent of education and experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to be both detail-oriented and highly organized. 

  • Prior experience with Microsoft products and email marketing platforms. 

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to craft messaging accessible to various audiences, across multiple channels.

  • High school diploma or GED 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience using MailChimp or other similar email communication platforms. 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university, preferably with a focus on English or Communications
