Overview

We are looking for an organized accounts payable manager to provide strong leadership to our accounts payable department and to ensure that the department runs smoothly. The accounts payable manager's responsibilities include maintaining accurate records regarding payments to suppliers, processing payments from clients, and training staff members. To succeed as an accounts payable manager, you should be focused on optimizing department processes and building lasting relationships with others within and outside of the business. You should be knowledgeable, analytical, and decisive with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating accounts payable staff members.
  • Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete financial, employee, and client records.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial information to management and government agencies.
  • Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives.
  • Developing, implementing, improving, and enforcing budgets, policies, and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and lenders.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret tenant leases, management agreements, financial narratives, partnership agreements, property escrow statements
  • and other relevant accounting legal documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Property Managers, Controllers, Accounting Managers and Property Accountants
  • Ability to see Property Accountants as individuals, as well as team members
  • Ability to teach, mentor and coach Property Accountants – remain accessible
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Requires positive attitude and good interpersonal skills – always be approachable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires a high level commitment to customer service, whether co-workers or clients
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratios and percentages
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems with limited information – then, recommend more than one resolution alternative
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to work independently
  • Requires good organizational skills
  • Requires attention to detail
  • Requires an openness to new ideas and procedures (flexibility)
  • Requires 10-key by touch
  • Demonstrates proficiency in excel
  • Proficient with various computer software programs

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum of an Associate degree (A.A.) from two-year college or university
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable or in a similar position. or, equivalent combination of education and experience, Real Estate experience a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, or a related field.
  • Experience may be preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles and accounts payable procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions and bookkeeping software.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and processes.
  • Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Commitment to ethical behavior
