Must be able to work between the hours of 7 am-5 pm Monday-Friday year round

Position Summary:

This position assists professional staff in providing care for the operative patient. This position requires surgical knowledge and expertise to ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are available on the surgical field and/or in the operating room where the procedure is to be performed. This position helps the sterile operative team, performs routine and specialized housekeeping activities, applies principles of infection control and medical ethics. Retrieves, cleans, and decontaminates instrumentation and equipment, issues and tracks department specific equipment/instrumentation within the hospital. Prepares, packages, and processes items in accordance with hospital policies, established practices and manufacturers recommendations. Performs, recommends and evaluates quality measures and improvements. This position will also be responsible for training newly assigned personnel. Patient safety and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Previous experience in hospital sterile processing preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

IAHCSMM certification preferred. Current BLS certification preferred.
