College/Department Information

The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine was founded in 1993 as the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics. We seek to attract outstanding faculty and bright students by creating a welcoming, collegial, and collaborative environment to foster success and creativity. Our faculty's research focuses on a variety of fundamental areas, ranging from neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders, brain injury, learning and memory, neuroprotection, development, inflammation, and regenerative medicine, using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches. Our department is also the home to the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, which is supported by the Georgia Research Alliance.

The Medical College of Georgia is the state's only public medical school. Founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school, the third medical school in the Southeast and the thirteenth in the nation, the Medical College of Georgia has one of the largest class sizes in the country. Job Summary

Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures. Will perform experiments using acute and chronic stress models, transgenic mouse models and high-fat diet model, performing behavioral tests evaluating depression, anxiety, PTSD, learning and memory. Will help to maintain mouse breeding colonies. Will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications

Lab experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong laboratory practices and time-management skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work semi-independently. Willingness and ability to work with research animals.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Part-time (FTE: 0.74) - Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: R9

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
