We are seeking a friendly and professional Medical Assistant to join our Village Pediatrics team in Frisco, TX. This role will be a combination of front and back office duties. You will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in ensuring a positive and seamless experience from check in to check out. Candidates must have previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patient rooming to efficiently meet daily appointment schedules
• Review presenting issue, visit history, orders, and update EMR appropriately
• Obtain vital signs and prep patient for visit
• Fluent in medical terminology & medication refill protocols
• Assist with scheduling appointments, answering phones, and updating patient records
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment
• Appropriately escalate issues outside of existing protocols to meet patient needs
• Work well with a diverse group of professionals in a team environment
• Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Check in patients and update insurance and demographic information
• Answer phones, schedule patient appointments, receive and post payments
• Act as a liaison between patients and medical support staff
• Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to ensure seamless patient care
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow all HIPAA and privacy rules while discussing sensitive health information with the patient or their authorized delegates

Qualifications:

• MA certification preferred but not required
• Pediatric experience a plus
• 1 year experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
• EMR experience required - Athena preferred
• Superior customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Highly motivated and organized
• Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations
