Quality Engineer 

SUMMARY:

Quality Engineer primary focus is on NPD (New Product Development) team and to ensure quality engineering throughout the development process and meeting customer’s requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to

Candidate functioning as expert for the below:

  • Quality engineering will create, execute, and teach advanced design quality practices. (APQP) 
  • Design assurance and working with NPD team and implement DFMEA’s and risk analysis sessions within NPD group
  • Understand design intent and ensure all aspects are met in relation to the machine specifications
  • Verify that all product components are functioning as they should and in compliance with blueprints and carefully engineered design plans.
  • Lead process for safety reviews & process for CE certification  
  • Work with product support and production to get feedback on field issues and reported manufacturing issues 
  • Drive organization to use 8D and 5Y problem resolution tools 
  • Have a passion for quality and drive rigorous solutions. 
  • Resolve problems in a way that honors the company’s integrity, benefits the consumer and creates a higher quality product in the end.
  • Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, interacting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management working both individually and as part of a team; display professional attitude; complies with company dress code.
  • Follow and actively support all company policies and procedures, to include a primary emphasis on safe operations

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience/Knowledge[CH2] 

  • 5 years’ experience working in manufacturing environment 
  • Heavy Fabrication 
  • New Product Development processes
  • Root cause analysis 
  • APQP experience

Education

Education

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

 x Design Engineer II

  • Must meet minimum education and experience requirements of Design Engineer I 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)

 x Design Engineer III

  • Must meet minimum education and experience requirements of Design Engineer I
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)

 x SR. Engineer

  • Must meet minimum education and experience requirements of Design Engineer III
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in quality engineering

  • Reading dimensional drawing [CH3] 
  • GD&T interpretation
  • Running DFMEA meetings 
  • Risk analysis sessions within NPD group
  • PPAP’s support
  • PFMEA support
  • Supplier quality support 
  • Field follows evaluation

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of modern algebra, analytical geometry and trigonometry

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work with teams and other departments to determine best paths forward
  • Be able to travel for NPD events and supplier evaluation

Office environment exposures include frequent and extensive telephone and computer use. The noise level in the office setting is usually moderate consistent with an office environment.

Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.

The employee is occasionally exposed to travel hazards associated with automobile and/or airplane travel.
