We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Accountant at our Houston, TX location!
Primary Function:
The Corporate Accountant prepares and maintains financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities in adherence to accounting principles, company policies, and in compliance with IRS regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position may require any of the following functions:
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist in month end, quarter end and annual closing process.
- Assist with internal audit / JSOX review process.
- Assist the Controller with confidential / sensitive corporate matters.
- Gather relevant data and prepare forms related to tax filings across numerous jurisdictions.
- Process Sales tax returns for required filings in Louisiana and Texas.
- Prepare and process payroll for assigned companies.
- Process payroll for expat employees.
- Assist Controller as requested in the handling of corporate matters and initiatives.
- Become a resource for and provide assistance to multiple departments that interact with Corporate Accounting Team.
- Recommend improvements in control processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Microsoft Office Suite; expertise in Excel preferred
ERP; Great Plains preferred
GAAP
IRS Regulations
Experience:
- 5 years accounting experience in a chemical / plastics manufacturing environment preferred.
Qualifications:
- Authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship
- Ability to read, write and speak English in a clear, concise manner
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills; attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate cost and financial information across the organization
- Ability to work independently
Physical Requirements:
Candidate must be able to:
- Dexterity to operate a keyboard; repetitive wrist, hand, finger movement
- Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer and view the screen
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching
- Physical presence in the workplace is required
