Job Description:
  • Cleans, sanitizes and supports an assigned area of the hospital and affiliated buildings in a sanitary, orderly and attractive condition.
Requirements:
  • Empties trash, cleans trash can as needed, relines can with clean liner. Transports trash to soiled utility room for removal. Removes infectious waste and fills sharps containers as needed.
  • Cleans, sanitizes patient rooms and restrooms, including refilling toilet paper, soap, etc.
  • Cleans offices and public restrooms.
  • Damp dusts furniture, ledges and fixtures with a germicidal agent.
  • Dry mops, wet mops floors and vacuums carpeting.
  • High dust vents, over bed lights and other items over shoulder height.
  • Operates several types of vacuum cleaners and other miscellaneous cleaning tools.
  • Expected at times to wear personal protection equipment to include rubber gloves, eye protection, gowns, booties, masks, and hair covers.
  • Required to monitor and report repair and maintenance needs in assigned areas.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Safely and properly lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Safely and properly pull, push, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and stretch.
  • Safely and properly stand, walk and work on feet for prolonged periods of time.
  • Organize work efficiently and effectively to ensure the job is completed within a budgeted time.
  • Maintain a courteous, pleasant and thoughtful attitude towards patients, visitors and staff.
