**Part Time Cook**
Location: Youth Services **Description**
**This position is not eligible for benefits.**
This position is part-time, nonexempt, unclassified and Not Covered (at-will) as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
Hours vary per week; 9:30 am 6 pm; minimum 16 hours/week
Under the direction of the Cook I/Kitchen Manager, the Part-Time Cook is responsible for supplying food for residents and staff, restocking shelves, cleaning and completing related paperwork.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
* Responsible for cooking and serving meals, including sides and salads, for residents and staff of the Youth Services Center.
* Restocks shelves and rotates stock.
* Washes, dries, and puts away dishes.
* Sweeps and mops floors and rubber matting.
* Responsible for washing all equipment, including, but not limited to the grill, deep fryer, and baskets.
* Documents meals for tracking purposes.
* Prepares and distributes snacks twice daily.
* Separates trash and recyclables.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Requirements and Working Conditions**
**REQUIREMENTS:**
* High School Diploma or GED and more than one year of experience working in kitchen or food services
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* Ability to obtain ServSafe Certification within six months of employment
* Knowledge of food safety standards and cooking procedures
* Ability to use grill, oven, fryers and other kitchen equipment
**WORKING CONDITIONS:**
The Part-Time Cook works in a standard kitchen environment with frequent standing and the ability to move about freely, frequent lifting of up to forty pounds, bending, pushing/pulling, reach over head and some kneeling crawling and climbing ladders. Frequent attention to detail, monitoring equipment and detailed inspection is required. The Part-time Cook is very frequently exposed to extreme temperatures, dangerous equipment, chemicals, noise and noxious odors.
