North Kansas City Schools is Hiring an Information Technology, Systems Engineer Near Kansas City, MO

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - SYSTEMS ENGINEER
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of current and relevant experience in a Windows Systems Administrator role using Windows 2012/2016/2019/2022; Microsoft Certified IT Professional preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of VMware virtualization VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) preferred.
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of PowerShell; credible references and examples of relative completed projects.
  • Extensive knowledge & experience maintaining and administrating Microsoft Active Directory and group policy.
  • Experience with server backup technologies, preferably Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Office 365.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, configuring, and administering Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience configuring, managing, and administering Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (MS SCCM).
  • Experience with various storage technologies.
  • Experience administering print services.
  • SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor experience preferred.
  • Experience with HPE and DELL server hardware maintenance.
  • Always provide our end users with outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to ensure that all systems are functional.
  • Ability to communicate problems with supervisor(s) as they become known.
  • Ability to work and coordinate in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Ability to effectively document processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology
JOB GOAL: The job of the Systems Engineer is to design, configure, install, maintain, and repair systems and servers; oversee the computer/server room operation and environment; provide information, direction, and/or recommendations regarding installations and configurations; resolving operational issues; and providing support to district staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support, and security of 100 Windows Server operating systems in a virtualized environment.
  • Perform Windows systems analysis and provide technical support for Windows Server systems.
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. district staff, programmers, helpdesk, administrators, users, ) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring project success.
  • Monitor a variety of systems and functions to ensure District resources are secure and utilized effectively.
  • Responsible for the District Windows desktop imaging process.
  • Provide troubleshooting and resolution to escalated Helpdesk issues.
  • Develop and maintain processes, tools, and documentation in support of the production environment.
  • Ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting, and reporting for server infrasctructure.
  • Adhere to change-control policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to provide on-call support as needed and directed by the Executive Director of Technology to resolve system issues or conduct maintenance during off-peak times which may extend beyond business hours or on weekends.
  • Maintain regular and consistent worksite attendance.
  • Comply with all District rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
