Position SummaryThe Director, Payer Contracts provides strategic direction and leadership through effective negotiation and implementation of reimbursement structures and payment models, management of payer and physician relationships, managed care partnerships, and network development. The Director will develop contracting strategies to ensure best possible outcomes for Ardent Health and will work collaboratively with payers on new payment models and business opportunities. Responsibilities
Directly negotiates and provides oversight in all professional and value based contract negotiation and contracting activities consistent with Ardent Health’s strategies, business, and financial plans.
Participates in the development of contract language and negotiation strategy.
Provides thorough financial analyses of contract performance.
Develops contracting strategies for governmental contracts to ensure best possible outcomes for the assigned entities.
Analyzes and monitors financial and operational aspects of existing managed care contracts for performance compared to expected and for use in making recommendations on renewals, re-negotiations, and terminations.
Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with all third parties and vendors to promote proactive problem resolution.
Leads projects as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
Bachelor's degree, required; Master's degree in related field, preferred
10 years of experience negotiating and managing contracts required, preferably in healthcare
5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in healthcare
Experience in large, multi-facility organization, preferred
Multi-state experience, preferred
Previous experience with an insurance provider, preferred
