 FLSA: Part-time, Hourly/Non-exempt

Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Pleasanton, TX is seeking an After School Care Program Coordinator for the 2024/2025 school year. The ASC Coordinator ensures the schools after school care program is an extension of our school's Catholic identity, academic program, and sense of community. In addition to the qualifications listed below, candidates should demonstrate leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability and flexibility, initiative, and creativity. 

After School Care is provided each school day as marked on the OLG Academic Calendar. The arrival time is typically at 2:30 p.m. and concludes as late as 6:15 p.m. On the school's scheduled early release days, the coordinator's day begins at 12:30pm and concludes at 6:15 p.m. 

Job Summary

Responsible for program operations, supervision and development of employees of the school’s Extended Care Program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as the on-sight coordinator of the school’s extended care program
  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Fiscal management of the program operations
  • Maintaining a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment
  • Positive interaction with parents
  • Attend Archdiocesan, on campus and other in-services as required
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal
  • Have copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily
  • Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid

  • Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
  • Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school age children and/youth development. 
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Principal may find appropriate and acceptable.

License and Credentials

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance

  • Understand and apply basic child and adolescent development principles.
  • Communicate and develop positive relationships with youth
  • Adapt, facilitate and evaluate age-appropriate activities with and for the group
  • Involve and empower youth. 
  • Identify potential risk factors (in a program environment) and take measures to reduce risk.
  • Care for, involve and work with families and community.
  • Work as part of a team and shows professionalism.
  • Demonstrate the attributes and qualities of a positive role model.
  • Interact with and relate to youth in ways that support asset building.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
