Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Entry Level Health and Safety Specialist to support projects throughout the US. The role involves frequent travel to oversee and execute a variety of health and safety-related assignments. The primary responsibilities include providing oversight of field crews during industrial construction, environmental investigations, and remediation activities in compliance with OSHA, client, and ARCADIS policies. The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for preparing health and safety plans, conducting pre-job safety calls, leading daily health and safety meetings, and participating in incident reporting and investigation. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training contractors and junior staff, as well as planning and overseeing hazardous tasks such as confined space entry, crane and rigging operations, demolition, excavation, and fall protection. The successful candidate will also be responsible for operating technical instrumentation for data collection in the field and communicating with various stakeholders, including property owners, clients, government agencies, and subcontractors. Familiarity with preventing Serious Injury or Fatality (SIFs) is essential. This role sits within Resilience: Environment, Resilience Field Portfolio Solutions (RFPS). As a member for the Environment, RFPS team you'll help improve quality of live with you specialism in health and safety.
Role accountabilities: - Full time assignment involving periods of travel to complete a variety of health and safety tasks in support of ARCADIS projects throughout the US. Oversight of field crews during the performance of industrial construction, environmental investigations, remediation, and construction activities to ensure adherence with OSHA, client and ARCADIS policies and procedures.
- Preparation of health and safety plans and other documentation.
- Participation in pre-job safety calls
- Participation in or leading daily health and safety meetings
- Perform worker and task observations to identify questionable behaviors. Work with team to develop appropriate solutions to mitigate site hazards.
- Attend Construction Team Meetings
- Participate in and/or lead incident Reporting and Investigation
- Training and mentoring of contractors and junior staff on project specific safety requirements
- Oversight and planning of hazardous tasks. Examples include, but not limited to:
- Confined Space Entry
- Crane and rigging operations
- Demolition
- Excavation
- Scaffold Erection
- Fall Protection
- Emergency Response
- Electrical Systems
- Use, callibrate, and maintain technical field safety instrumentation for collection of data
- Preparation of correspondence and reports of increasing complexity
- Communication with property owners, clients, government agencies and subcontractors in support of project assignments
- Familiarity with recognizing and preventing Serious Injury or Fatality (SIFs)
- Developing specialty in at least one area of HS (e.g. H&S Auditing, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, hazerdous materials)
Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Health and Safety related discipline
- Experience using MS Office Suite products required
- Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction
Preferred Qualifications
- Current 40-Hour Hazwoper/Refresher
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $78,000 / year.
