Student Freedom Initiative is Hiring a Campus Ambassador - Student Freedom Initiative Near Washington, DC

Job Location: While remote to SFI HQ in Washington, D.C., this position requires selected candidates to have direct, on-campus presence at their respective institutions, including:

· Hampton

· Jackson State

· Bowie State

· Alabama A&M

I. Who We Are

Student Freedom Initiative, Inc. (SFI) is a nonprofit corporation formed under the laws of the State of Delaware and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. Our vision is to reduce the wealth gap through the lens of education. We focus on the young men and women attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities ("HBCUs") - and ultimately other Minority Serving Institutions ("MSIs"). We are student centric and evidence-based; we deliver a holistic solution to address the systemic problems resulting from the trapping of poverty that contribute to wealth gap. Our program is composed of four pillars: (1) Alternative to traditional Parent PLUS loans, (2) Internships & Certification, (3) Comprehensive Supports, and (4) Targeted MSI Capacity Building. The outcomes sought from these pillars are to reduce student debt burden, increase student job readiness, increase student persistence, and increase resilience and competitiveness of MSIs. These pillars are enabled by the generous contributions of our corporate and philanthropic supporters.

II. The Role

We are looking for Campus Ambassadors to join our team. You will be the vital link between Student Freedom Initiative, and your institution and will be essential to SFI's ability to forge new relations and nurture existing ones. You will serve as our primary point of contact with student groups, increase our digital footprint on campus and execute various on-campus communications, marketing and engagement activities. To do well in this role you must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, analytical, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.

III. What You Will Do

a. As your primary task, support increased adoption for the Alternative to traditional Parent PLUS Loans, for eligible students at your institution.

b. Secondarily, support other SFI's other pillars, as assigned.

IV. How We Will Enable You To Be Successful

a. We will schedule a mandatory 60-minute virtual, quarterly information session, to update you on the following:

i. The 4 pillars as identified in Paragraph I above.

ii. Goals, objectives and associated deliverables for the upcoming quarter.

b. We will schedule a bi-weekly, 30-minute virtual status sessions between you and your supervisor to review the following:

i. Progress on deliverables.

ii. Issues and concerns encountered.

iii. Plans for create and maintain momentum.

c. We will identify what success looks like for you. This includes:

i. Meeting with a minimum of 10 students biweekly, to discuss value of SFI's Alternative to traditional Parent PLUS Loans.

ii. Submitting contact information of a minimum of 10 students bi-weekly, who have voluntarily agreed to have SFI contact them.

d. We will provide you with a release form to allow SFI to contact students.

V. The Tasks We Want You to Do on a Regular Basis

a. Build professional working relationships with your institutions' Counseling, Financial Aid, and Student Success centers.

b. Identify on campus opportunities and events to market the program.

c. Generate word of mouth brand marketing.

d. Leverage content we will provide for marketing the program.

e. Share trends and ideas for how to reach and engage opinion leaders on campus.

VI. What You Will Bring

a. HBCU/MSI student (Sophomore, Junior or Senior) currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an SFI affiliated institution (https://studentfreedominitiative.org/partners/).

b. Leadership experience and campus involvement required (student government, sports, club organizations, fraternities, and sororities)

c. Satisfactory academic progress, excellent organizational, interpersonal communication, and written skills.

d. Strong peer-to-peer interaction skills and abilities, and the ability to work in a team environment.

e. Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

f. Must be 18 years of age.

VII. Who you will report to:

a. You will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and MSI Engagement, and other members of the Engagement Team as assigned and appropriate.

VIII. Compensation

a. $2,000.00 per academic year ($1,000 each semester)

b. Up to 10 hours per week

c. Position is remote

Interview selected candidates: June 11 - 21, 2024

Forward finalists to meet w/ COO & CAO: June 24, 2024

COO & CAO meets with finalists: June 25 - July 12, 2024

Candidates selected & notified: July 17, 2024
