Apogee Solutions Career Center is Hiring a Director, Strategy & Growth Near Chesapeake, VA

Apogee Solutions, a Woman-Owned Small Business, is seeking a Director, Strategy & Growth, to serve as part of the team pursuing opportunities across the Government services sector. The Director, Strategy & Growth, will drive Apogee Solutions’ strategic growth objectives by developing and refining an understanding of customers’ most important needs, creating successful capture strategies, and leading winning proposal development efforts. Qualified candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with a Top Secret DOD security clearance.

The Director, Strategy & Growth, will lead efforts for identification, qualification, and capture of specific opportunities as well as generate a qualified pipeline of contract opportunities to support Apogee Solutions’ business development strategy, long-range forecast, and growth. In addition, the Director, Strategy & Growth, will recommend and implement business development and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration to enable achievement of strategic growth objectives.

The Director, Strategy & Growth will:

  • Oversee the development and growth of profitable new business areas for the three service segments of Apogee Solutions: Rehabilitative Services and Warrior Care, Training Services and Exercise Management, and Analytical Services and Force Development.
  • Lead and manage business development in the establishment and execution of new business and market initiatives including the identification and development of new customers and partnerships.
  • Be comfortable with executing independent decision making and action steps, substantiated with logical, clear decision-making.
  • Have extensive knowledge in the operations of Apogee Solutions and the services provided to ensure all business processes are performed and conform to the organization’s objectives and policies.
  • Perform the critical management functions of planning, organizing, controlling, directing, and coordinating all business development efforts for Apogee Solutions.
  • Lead establishment of business development strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Establish measures of merit that support the accomplishment of the company’s strategic direction while managing the preparation and maintenance of periodic reports for management to track accomplishment.
  • Analyze, identify, and qualify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Organize and execute all aspects of business development capture, planning, and execution.
  • Establish internal controls to manage business development programs and support functions.
  • Direct business development activities, including building industry teams, customer call plans to shape acquisitions, and pipeline management to respond to and win business with new and existing customers.
  • Advance overall win strategy, shape opportunities with customers, develop team strategies, understand pricing, and assist in developing winning price proposals.
  • Identify, establish, maintain, and leverage important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders.
  • Influence service solutions, costs, and estimates of scope based upon a strong understanding of technical capabilities and the marketplace.
  • Pursue knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market.
  • Advise corporate leadership on status and progress of business development efforts.
  • Identify and assess risks to business development efforts, recommends risk mitigation strategies, and implements risk reduction plans.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of strategy and a marketing plan for expanding capabilities.
  • Obtain market intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits concurrent with developing marketing strategies that maximize the value of that intelligence.
  • Develop, track, and execute Business Development/Capture tasks from lead generation to capture stages to proposal preparation of the business development cycle.
  • Provide recommendations in the development of business proposals, including personnel, subcontract, facility, and service needs.
  • Write, edit, and review proposals and technical marketing material.

Required Experience:

  • U.S. Citizen with a Top Secret DOD security clearance
  • Master's degree in strategy, accounting, business, finance, economics, industrial management, marketing, statistics, organization design, management, or related field
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) through the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), or achievement of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III in Program Management, highly desired
  • Minimum of five or more years’ experience and demonstrated knowledge in business processes, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • At least ten years’ experience working with the U.S. military
  • Ability to travel occasionally to attend conferences and engage with Government representatives, primarily at military bases throughout the United States
  • Specialized training in program and/or project management, strategic planning, organizational development, or contract management
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software products
