Overview:

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Development

REPORTS TO: Senior Associate Director of Development

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Depending on region may participate in supervising staff such as Development/Administrative Assistant OR may occasionally instruct or assist other employees including interns.

LOCATION: Boston, Massachusetts

Grade/Class: Grade E, Exempt, PSA-Eligible

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Work with the Senior Associate Director of Development to plan and execute targeted fundraising plan to achieve defined regional goals. Identify and cultivate donors and implement targeted solicitation strategies designed to increase giving from the board and the mid-level donor base.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Assist the Senior Associate Director of Development in setting fundraising priorities and establishing financial goals.
  • Plan, organize and execute our Women of Valor Luncheon, ADL New Englands largest fundraising event. Design and execute fundraising strategy for event. Organize event committee meetings and manage volunteer leadership. Coordinate event program, honorees, and attendees. Assign responsibilities and monitor subordinate staff and volunteers in preparation for, during, and after the event.
  • In consultation with the Senior Associate Director of Development, identify, cultivate, build, and solidify relationships with portfolio of new and established contributors. Analyze historic patterns of giving and assist in developing strategies to encourage new gifts and increase contributions. Directly solicit and close gifts from prospects and maintain relationships through mail, phone, or in-person contacts.
  • Manage and strengthen the Associate Board (young leadership board) helping to establish leadership/donor pipeline. Working closely with Associate Board leaders, plan, design, and execute high-impact meetings.
  • Maintain appropriate prospect and donor records, mailing lists and fund records.?
  • Contribute to regional management by participating in overall regional office administration.
  • Participate in special assignments or projects to assist the Senior Associate Director of Development.
  • Participate in development-related functions such as marketing, design/preparation of print materials, event logistics, and post-event follow up based on individual skills and office needs.
Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Good organizational and administrative skills including the ability to multi-task.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), and database management software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is necessary to represent ADL and attend community fundraising events.?
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.?

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has several years experience in community fundraising and is able to demonstrate successful experience engaging with mid-level donors.

Education:

  • A Bachelors degree, or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment:

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.

Compensation:

  • This position has a salary range of $52,000 to $70,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Boston, MA. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
