WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position is subject to preplacement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Preplacement screening will consist of infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
• Position requires signing a statement of understanding of the Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement.
• Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
• Employee is personally responsible for following safety guidelines/procedures.
• Requires signing a statement of understanding regarding confidential employee health records and may need to participate in medical surveillance programs as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Current DEA Certification
• Current CPR Certification
• Current California Physician Assistant License
• Two years experience as a Physician Assistant in a busy medical clinic
• Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Medical Record system.
• Experience analyzing needs, establishing priorities and providing appropriate medical care.

Preferred:

• Experience to document and complete patient history, perform physical examination, relay medical conditions and coordinate health management of patients with the clinic medical providers.
• Experience to perform office laboratory tests, collect specimens, initiate culturing of certain specimens and determine abnormalities in lab reports.
• Knowledge of DMV/DOT Medical Examinations.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Cal OSHA requirements and other state-of-the-art Occupational medical knowledge.
• Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations and resolve problems.

Background Check

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks. This position requires a Pre-Employment Physical.
