Join the Facilities Services team, a highly responsive and knowledgeable crew providing outstanding service for Campus Operations and to the university community.
Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University's operations.
Our teams provide a comprehensive array of qualified services, backed by our licensed and certified technicians, to this end, we offer opportunities for continuing education, as well as various stipends for additional trade licenses. Our team of trained trade experts are well-matched for the university's operational and maintenance needs, whether the facility is a brand new laboratory of our iconic Tower.
Our goal is to self-identify operations and maintenance issues long before our clients realize a repair is needed and take a thoughtful approach to using their resources, structuring processes, and providing the best client service and use of university resources. This goal comes from our sense of ownership and pride in our work.

Security sensitive; Criminal background check conducted on selected applicant. Hiring decision is contingent on applicant clearing check. This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code *51.215. Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. 40 hour work week schedule; Monday-Friday, five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor. Some overtime, evening, weekends, and holidays possible. This position is required to occasionally work on-call.
Performs journey level preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostic testing, and repairs of mechanical systems in campus facilities.
High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience in journey level maintenance/repair of mechanical systems such as pumps, fans, compressors, and pneumatic equipment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Must have a current driver license.
Candidate's Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 36 months must be clear. This includes all states resided in for past 36 months. Candidate must provide out of state MVR(s).
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Associate Degree. Graduation from technical or vocational trade school. More than three years of journey-level in the maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, compressors, pneumatic equipment, or associated mechanical systems. Experience using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, power quality meters, accelerometers, etc. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Experience in more than one craft or trade. Working knowledge of computerized systems. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and blueprints related to trade. Ability to write reports summarizing work activities. Demonstrated stable work history.
$45,760 depending on qualifications
