BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree in design, visual/graphic design or brand strategy, marketing, or commensurate experience
- Design experience including art direction and design, within advertising agencies and/or in-house creative departments
- A portfolio of content projects and examples (visual/writing samples will be requested).
- Proven ability in art direction for large scale, multi-channel marketing and product marketing campaigns.
- Proven experience implementing visual designs for mobile/web products and developing visual design systems to serve a broader ecosystem of products.
- Experience with brand expression for complex consumer facing campaigns.
- Experience in ownership of projects and communicating timelines and executing independently.
- Excellent written communications with the ability to understand the audience, structure effective presentations, and distill key messages in order to effectively inform and persuade leadership.

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Transportation collectively represents some of the most critical components of Amazon’s first-class transportation network. This organization oversees all global middle and last mile products, spanning B2B and B2C, critical partners, enterprise and SMB customers across numerous teams. This includes – but is not limited to – Amazon Freight, Amazon Relay, Amazon Freight Partners, Amazon Shipping, Amazon Flex, Amazon Hub, Amazon Hub Delivery and delivery service partner. Everything we do is aimed at further delighting our customers, partners and employees with faster, cheaper and more efficient means of shipping and receiving packages.
Creative Garage (CG) is the central creative team supporting the portfolio of global transportation products. The team focuses on building brand awareness, recognition, acquisition and engagement with global transportation brands through the human stories behind logistics. The team builds and owns the global brands and the creative expression of these brands throughout the customer journey. We work closely with global marketing and customer insights partners to test and learn creative, ensuring our design solutions resonate with the target audience. We have high standards and strive to continuously raise the bar across all creative elements.
The Associate Creative Director will represent the studio when pitching design solutions to senior leaders and stakeholders, promote collaboration, identify problems, and set the broader team up for success across a multitude of brands and products. They will have deep knowledge and practical experience with external brand guidelines, strategic briefs, and creative briefs. They can inspire and direct internal and external creative resources. They have the ability to unify brand strategy and design execution across mediums and touchpoints. Not only does this candidate have creative vision, they can provide feedback and guidance to a wide array of stakeholders, ensuring solutions are on brand.
As a team leader, this candidate will also lead a team of thinkers and doers. This candidate will have a proven track record of effectively managing creative teams with senior and junior talent across a multitude of roles, including visual design, motion, copywriting and brand. Key job responsibilities
* Lead strategic and complex design and brand projects that present multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple teams
* Defines compelling design systems for transportation brands that capture the attention and imaginations of internal stakeholders and external customers.
* Create bar-raising design identity systems to support and reinforce our product vision and business objectives.
* Concept, design, and provide direction for executions across mediums including video, digital, social, OOH, on-platform ads, direct mail, collateral, external partnerships, experiential, and more.
* Establish mechanisms and audit work to maintain consistent brand standards across customer-facing marketing programs
* Write, develop and work from creative briefs to translate marketing strategies to creative execution.
* Produce high-quality, innovative work with a global and culturally relevant sensibility, across a wide variety and types of audiences and placements
* Oversees photography and videography production shoots
* Dives deep into quantitative and qualitative data around each business, customer perceptions and behavior, and is able to translate it into clear, actionable creative direction
* Employs sound critical thinking & problem-solving approaches, comes to the table with solutions
* Establish and maintain a high creative bar of excellence across multiple brands and geos
* Exceptionally skilled at creative direction, brand development, image curation, visual storytelling, layout, form and color
* Comfortable taking ownership in an ambiguous environment
* Demonstrates a command of creative methods, tools, communication, and presentation skills
* Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging trends and digital innovations into creative and marketing strategies
* Ability to flex between effective team management and rolling up their sleeves and designing

Team Leadership:
* Leads a team of creatives and supporting staff to execute on end-to-end creative solutions
* Builds trust, respect, and credibility with stakeholders, management peers, direct reports, and executives
* Works closely with other ACDs and the Creative Director to ensure a cohesive, creative solution for clients, localized where necessary
* Engages in active listening and gathers diverse perspectives, knowing when and where to provide sometimes divergent perspective
* Works collaboratively with the creative operations team to manage team intakes, briefs, client communication, team capacity and team throughput
* Works autonomously to build and grow scope and visibility for their team across the organization among peers and senior leaders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- * 2 years of industry experience as a visual designer, marketing designer, graphic designer, or similar VX-related role.
- * 5 years of experience working in direct collaboration with product marketers, design leaders, and stakeholders for implementation of visual design and marketing campaigns, brand standards and design specs/guidelines.
- * 3 years managing designers, copywriters, art directors or other similar creative roles.
- * Experience in leveraging insights and observation to develop forward looking brand strategy.
- * Experienced in briefing and overseeing creative agency work.
- * Strong desire to mentor both in and out of the creative department.
- * Fluency in best practices for web-based design, as well as strong knowledge of design principles and techniques.
- * Deep understanding of digital, social and ‘on-the-horizon’ mediums.
- * Proven experience implementing visual designs for mobile/web products and developing visual design systems to serve a broader ecosystem of products.
- * Experience creating specifications for large-scale printing to wrap physical objects.
- * Experience with motion design and video editing is a bonus.
- * Demonstrated ability to influence and lead projects from concept to delivery and ongoing improvement.
- * Strong verbal communication and presentation skills for presentations with senior leadership.
- * An entrepreneurial spirit that is energetic, positive and resourceful.
- * Impeccable attention to detail, excellent art direction and design sensibility.
- * Tenacious self-starter with a passion for effective communications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
