Information Technology Services (ITS), currently has an opening for an IT Systems and Infrastructure Engineer II position in our Chinden office in Boise.
This position designs, develops, and applies technical expertise that supports the organization's technical infrastructure and technology offerings. This includes systems, networks, servers, and other related technologies. They are responsible for designing, developing, testing, installing and/or deploying technologies, and work typically includes contingency planning, configuration management, direct maintenance, and problem resolution.

P lease note: The successful candidate will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports.
Example of duties:

• Works with customers to understand and explain business and technical issues, responds to user problems, explains new technologies, and presents deliverables;
• Evaluates and plans implementation and use of moderately complex server systems;
• Undertakes technical leadership and coordination on projects and/or systems maintenance activities;
• Recommends resource requirements to maintain or upgrade service levels;
• Assists in server planning, design/engineering, architecture development, and the creation of technical standards;
• Evaluates new products and resolves server problems as assigned;
• May mentor junior staff and assist in troubleshooting;
• Develop standard configurations for enterprise endpoints and audit compliance of those endpoints;
• Ensure security patches and other updates are applied to statewide endpoints;
• Troubleshoot and remediate configuration conflicts at an enterprise level;
• Administer and configure various endpoint security management systems;
• Develop strategies and processes for managing department endpoint assets.

Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:

• Current information technology trends and capabilities.
  Typically gained by an associate degree or equivalent college level/vocational-tech coursework directly related to current information technology OR at least two years of work experience in information technology. Education and experience must be within the last five years.

Experience:

• Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting network, server, or storage systems.
  Typically gained by at least three years of full-time work experience where installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network, server or storage systems was part of your primary job responsibilities.
• Resolving network or server problems.
  Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience (within the last five years) where resolving network or server problems were part of their primary responsibilities.
• Working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for user computing needs in a business environment.
  Typically gained by at least two years of full-time work experience interviewing and consulting with clients/users to develop and implement solutions to meet computing requirements in a business environment as a primary responsibility of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Good knowledge of endpoint configuration management practices. Typically gained by at least two years of related experience.
• Experience installing, administering, and configuring uninterrupted power supplies UPS. Typically gained by at least two years of related experience.
