Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 5 years of relevant, professional experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting Software and Microsoft Office.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve recurring process issues.
  • Travel to implement all aspects of project development and execution, 25 to 30% travel requirement.
  • Experience in roofing manufacturing or web process handling preferred.
  • HMI, PLC, and PID controls loop understanding preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate work to maintenance/operations personnel, peers, plant management. Ability to build and maintain relationships with those that we interact with at the facilities.
Summary of essential job functions

  • Stay safe. Take responsibility for your safety, the safety of your coworkers, and the safety of your designs and projects. Perform all work in a safe manner, report all unsafe conditions, work practices, and work-related injuries so that corrective action can be promptly initiated.
  • Team player that works well with other Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance representatives to develop project concepts and resolve issues to ensure manufacturing requirements are met.
  • Applies engineering principles to drive data-based decision-making practices.
  • Evaluates and works to improve manufacturing systems and increases reliability of electro-mechanical systems on machinery.
  • Evaluates and improves plant support systems (compressed air, steam cycle, thermal fluids, etc.).
  • Effectively manage capital projects and/or maintenance work-orders to include:
    • Scope: Obtain Project Charter document for all projects. Avoid scope creep and keep projects focused.
    • Design and Specifications: Determine equipment/process/system design and specifications IAW engineering principles, customer contract requirements, code requirements, laws, and other appropriate requirements.
    • Budget: Accurately estimate, track, communicate, and control project budget. Obtain equipment and contractor quotes. Pursue cost savings in all areas.
    • Plan: Accurately plan, track, coordinate, communicate and comply with project timeline to include identifying critical path and key milestones.
    • Resources: Accurately determine material requirements for each phase of project. Proactively ensure material resources are available in a timely manner to support project.
    • Execution: Provide direction to project work crews and drive project to completion. Coordinate activities and resources between customer and work crews. Manage project sub-contractors when necessary.
    • Communication: Institute regular contact with stakeholders (process owner, work crews, contractors, and suppliers). Maintain detailed, complete, and timely records. Provide regular project updates to stakeholders.
    • Justification: Provide or assist with preparation of cost justification for projects as required.
    • Document: Develop layouts (by using drafting software Auto CAD) for new or existing processes, products, or equipment. Approve drawing releases. Prepare interim project reports (as directed) and completion project report. Provide copies of all technical documentation (drawings, flow charts, manuals, etc.) to project owner.
  • Generates business for E&C by developing and maintaining relationships with key plant personnel and discussing potential projects while on site. Be customer oriented and remain engaged with the customer even after a job is complete.

  • This job is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes, odors or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, vibration and confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, with hearing protection provided.
