SUMMARY OF POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

This position is responsible for supporting the efforts of the health and safety department and ensuring that the department is meeting its departmental goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Must maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information as well as other Company data, including personnel information
  • Develop and maintain Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
  • Answering departmental questions and questions from company drivers
  • Create and deliver safety training programs.
  • Educate employees on safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate incidents; gather and analyze data and statistics; make recommendations for improvement; prepare and submit reports.
  • Participates and manages air sampling, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation programs.
  • Onboarding/offboarding of company drivers from internal systems
  • Scheduling safety meetings and recording minutes during safety meetings and meetings where safety director is involved
  • Manage gas cards for all drivers
  • Ensure that all vehicle records are updated for insurance, sales, and other purposes
  • Ensure/schedule regular maintenance for company vehicles
  • Manage vehicle registration status
  • Maintain and manage all DOT records.
  • Enter monthly data regarding incident rates
  • Manage company toll tags
  • Ensure all safety records are up to date
  • Oversee purchasing for department
  • Complete expense reports
  • Save, retrieve, and maintain documents as needed
  • Perform data entry, as needed
  • Assist Director of Health and safety as directed.
  • Implement Company Safety Policies, Procedures, and Programs
  • Lead new employee on-boarding processes for safety
  • Ensure employees are acting in adherence with safety rules and regulations
  • Assist management in the development of processes and procedures that will help eliminate potential injury sources
  • Facilitate in the creation of a positive safety culture with an emphasis on learning and engagement of employees to support safety objectives

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TRAINING):

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma Required

Required Experience:

  • Safety Experience Required
  • 2 years of previous administrative experience required
  • MS Office Experience required

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous safety experience preferred, but not required
  • Spanish language fluency preferred, but not required
  • Experienced with Monday.com project management software a plus
  • Experienced with Enterprise E-fleet fleet management portal

  • Can adjust quickly to changing demands and can perform under stressful conditions
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop “safe thinking” in others
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office for the completion of daily tasks
  • Professional presentation
  • High ethical standards, honesty and trustworthy
  • Spanish speaking, reading, and writing is a plus
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications; ability to train, influence and motivate coworkers
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Desire to learn the Safety discipline and growing knowledge to eliminate hazards
  • Be respectful to others
  • Team oriented
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity

Work Environment: This work will be performed in an office setting.


Physical Demands: This position is expected to have little to no physical demands.

Travel Required: Travel to other office locations is not expected for this position
