Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly closing and overall care of the financial statements of certain entities. This includes general ledger reconciliations, analysis of balance sheet accounts, income statement accounts and multiple bank accounts. This role also includes maintenance of fixed assets. Individual should have a full understanding of appropriate GAAP and associated business processes. Individual will communicate with other entities and departments regarding accounting impact and functionality. A qualified candidate must have strong analytical skills and be able to get to the root cause of issues with moderate guidance. Also, this candidate must be extremely detail oriented and organized. The individual needs to be professional, accountable, and action oriented.
Essential Functions:
• Ensure the timely reporting of monthly financial information for select entities or select areas of the close process • Maintain the fixed assets for all Allegis Group entities, including preparing and posting monthly depreciation entries for all entities
• Work with the tax team at year end to prepare Forms 4562, 4797 and mid-quarter applicability for tax provisions and returns regarding fixed assets• Perform close procedures for preparation of monthly financial statements to ensure an accurate and timely close process• Prepare, analyze, and review account reconciliations• Analyze monthly balance sheet and income statement variances• Provide reports for budgeting and year-end tax purposes• Work on special projects, as management requests• Prepare supporting documentation for audits and interact with auditors as needed• Correspond with other corporate departments and other related entities to ensure proper accounting for purchases, expenses, investment and bank accounts, credit facilities, and various accrual accounts• Prepare documentation and schedules for other departments, as requested• Maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s financial reporting processes and general ledger structure, as they relate to this role• Assist with improving existing processes to fully utilize the capabilities of accounting systems, as needed• Support supervisor and collaborate with team members during ongoing initiatives to develop and implement new procedures and reports to enhance the workflow in the accounting and financial reporting process • Assist supervisor with improving and updating accounting processes, such as reconciliations, FCCS eliminations, etc.• Required to handle non-routine transactions and/or accounting issues on a regular basis, with limited direction from supervisor • Support OpCos, other departments, and/or team members and provide guidance regarding various accounting issues, including US GAAP compliance, foreign currency revaluation and translations, elimination and consolidation issues, systems knowledge, and Corporate policies• Escalate issues in a timely and appropriate manner to supervisor for support, approval, and/or resolution
Budget Responsibility:
The Senior Accountant may participate in the budgeting process and assist the Controller and Corporate Controller by analyzing former results, as well as creation of budgets for smaller entities.
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance• 3 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience • Public accounting/audit experience a plus• CPA a plus, but not a requirement
Skills/Abilities:
• Experience with overall financial close is a plus– including preparation of general ledger reconciliations• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment• Ability to learn new systems, concepts, and processes quickly and apply those skills going forward on a consistent basis• Ability to work independently on projects with limited supervision• Strong level of attention to detail and accuracy of information• Ability to work under strict deadlines• Excellent teamwork skills• Strong organization and documentation skills• Proficient verbal and written communication skills• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel• Experience with SAGE fixed assets software is a plus, but not a requirement• Experience with Oracle FCCS is a plus, but not a requirement• Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus, but not a requirement• Experience with accounting for international transactions or entities is a plus, but not a requirement
