We have an opportunity for an analytical and detail-oriented Investment Analyst to join our team! This person will work closely with the Director of Investments and provide investment due diligence, monitoring and recommendation of investment managers covering alternative, risk-based, equity and fixed income strategies. The Investment Analyst maintains direct relationships with professionals at external investment firms as part of the due diligence and monitoring activities.
Responsibilities
Assist in research and due diligence of investment products and managers
Conduct due diligence meetings with external investment firms
Create investment menu for retirement plans – multiple custodians
Provide manager specific updates at Investment Committee meetings
Maintain approved manager list and identify areas where additional managers may be needed
Regularly schedule and document investment meetings with current and prospective investment managers
Closely monitor approved investment manager performance and identify potential performance issues
Monitor investments and ensure use of the lowest cost investment option
Research covering less utilized asset classes, such as convertible bonds or commodities
Maintain on-watch list and create detailed write ups of managers failing to meet the minimum acceptable performance criteria
Identification of strategically attractive assets classes that could improve portfolio returns
Critical Attributes for Success
Understanding of modern portfolio theory and efficient frontier concepts
Detailed knowledge of investment products, including individual securities, mutual funds, ETFs, Index funds and separate accounts
Strong writing and presentation skills
Familiarity with alternative investments and their role in a diversified portfolio
Education and Experience
2-5 years of investment industry experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Finance or Economics
Proficiency with Excel and conducting statistical analyses
Prior experience with Morningstar and Tamarac is a plus
CFA preferred, or interest in achieving designation
